Title: Head Men's Soccer Coach

Coach Peter Nunes is entering his first season as head coach for the Bayhawks men's soccer team after a successful four season's as the assistant coach.

Coach Nunes helped lead the Bayhawks to their most successful season in school history during the 2016 season by coaching the men to a 12-7 record and 9-4 in conference play. The men earned a birth in the NJCAA Division III National Soccer Tournament after defeating Bunker Hill in the Region XXI Tournament. The Bayhawks finish the season ranked number 8 nationally.

During the 2015 season, Coach Nunes helped guide the Bayhawks to a 7-5-1 overall record and a birth in the Region XXI Tournament semi-finals.

Coach Nunes brings years of coaching experience with him to BCC.  He has previously coached the Taunton Eagles Senior Team, where he was a 6 time coach of the year. He has also coached the Taunton Eagles U-15 team, and has also been a member of the New Bedford High School Whaler Camp and Westport, Connecticut Soccer Academy coaching staffs.

Nunes was a standout player at the collegiate level playing at Massasoit Community College, where he was a 2 year conference All Star.  He helped the Warriors win 2 New England Conference Championships, and 1 National Final Four appearance. After attending Massasoit, Coach Nunes continued his playing career at Southern Connecticut State University where he was a 2 year starter and member of the National All Tournament Team.  Nunes helped lead the Owls to 2 Eastern State Conference Championships and 2 National Final Four Appearances.

He played his high school soccer at New Bedford High School, where he was a 4 year starter for the whalers. Coach Nunes was part of three Big three Conference championships at New Bedford, and was also a 2 year captain for the Whalers. He was also an All State selection for 3 years, and a High School All American.  

Coach Nunes has also been fortunate enough to coach several players who have gone on to professional soccer careers, including Ruben Resendes, Ryan Maduro, Andrew Sousa, Jordan Branco, and Emil Figuroa.

Coach Nunes resides in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
