Diane Hamel serves as the fitness and recreation coordinator at Bristol Community College. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the fitness center including wellness activities, group exercise classes, individual exercise instruction, nutrition guidance and recreational activities.
She is responsible for the purchasing and maintenance of the strength and conditioning equipment as well as the cardiovascular equipment. She keeps of variety of education material on hand to advise students about healthy living and keeps the center stocked with functional exercise equipment to aid in all types of physical conditioning and rehabilitation. In 2013, she oversaw the renovation of the fitness center including new flooring, ceilings, lights, lockers and paint.
Prior to coming to Bristol, she served as the Director of Health and Fitness at the Hartford Region YWCA.
Diane received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health, with an emphasis on Corrective and Adaptive PE, from the University of Rhode Island.
Diane’s favorite activities are swimming, biking and running and she enjoys competing in local triathlons and road races.
